Due to the current pandemic Llanelli Beach Bootcamp obviously hasn’t been able to meet up on the sands of Machynys Bay. However we’ve not let the situation stop us from working out and so sandbag sessions, sprints and even skipping have become part of the lockdown routine. Llanelli Beach Bootcamp Online connects up members who get involved with sandbag workouts every Friday and Sunday, a body weight workout on Monday and a sprints session on Wednesdays. A bonus skipping workout is also offered each Thursday.
Although we were very uncertain at the start how things would work out, we can definitely say that Bootcamp online has been a massive success. Members are reporting faster times or working with heavier weights since the lockdown period first started. Most certainly our little community has survived and is thriving under the circumstances. Just take a look at some of the photos that have been shared!
One of the toughest workouts took place on 25th May when our community did their own version of Murph. Murph is a popular workout created by CrossFit in memory of Navy Lt. Michael Murphy who died in Afghanistan on June 28, 2005. The workout is one-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and another one-mile run.
However our Murph Meets Sandy version was a one mile run, 20 rounds of 5 bent over rows, 10 push-ups and 20 squats, and another one mile run. Members could choose to run with their sandbags and many completed the workout in good time. If you would like to join our growing online group then please get in contact and we can set you up. Any new members will be provided a sandbag. Hopefully we will be back together on Machynys Bay very soon.
